FATshion Icon Cynara Geissler – Part Two!

Last week we shared a blog post about our friend, fat activist, writer, media maven and Fatshion Icon Cynara Geissler. We couldn’t fit all the photos and fabulous quotes into one little blog post so without further Adieu, we bring you Part Deux!

Fashion Icon Cynara Geissler styles Cherry Velvet Lunar Cats dress, 2

Anyone who knows Cynara knows that she has a very distinctive and committed style. She joyfully wears bright colours and amazing accessories to brighten up her outfits and anyone who she encounters throughout her day. Like a ray of fun, fashion sunshine! She is also brilliant and well spoken, natch.

Let’s get right to it, shall we?

Marie – Double Feature

Cynara is all ready for her movie date! She has paired our adorable Marie Double Feature Dress with her own red belt, red hair bow, and red and white classic canvas running shoes. This look is super cute but also comfortable and practical for rushing to get to the theatre in time to watch all those previews. Or a post-movie stroll with her sweetheart!

Cynara is wearing that same sweet red belt with our Olivia – Harvest Bloom Dress and here she has added red Mary Jane flats and a kelly green cardigan to pull it all together. Her own brooch and our Cherry Earrings complete this classic look.

Veronica – Blue Raspberry

This vision of turquoise and red is one of our favourite looks Cynara has put together. Veronica Dress – Blue Raspberry is fab on its own but with the contrasting red accessories, it pops with joy! A Cinnamon Hearts Vintage Chiffon Crinoline for fabulous floof is just so perfect for this dress. Here we see Cynara’s own red hair bow, and neck baubles but possibly the best things ever are her lace-up Pom Pom flats! Amazing!!

We hope that you have enjoyed this two-part blog all about Cynara Geissler as much as we have. We always look forward to seeing what Cynara is wearing, almost as much as we love to hear what she has to say!

How to Pose for a Photo, Cherry Velvet Style

Have you ever admired the effortless poses of our models and want to know how they get that look? I’ve got some insider photo tips for you!

 The Eyes Have It

I know with me, when I make a true happy smile, my eyes pretty much disappear into squinty slits. One way to avoid this is to keep your eyes closed until just before the shutter clicks. One, Two, Three…Open. Another trick is to squint a little with only your lower lids. It’s a bit tricky but practice will help and your smile will look more natural.

Say Oustiti!– (French for ‘little monkey’)

Don’t say cheese, instead get someone to make you laugh off camera. Think about something that makes you really smile or even laugh. A real smile is more than just showing your teeth and a smile with no emotion in it can look…a little creepy. That’s why it looks better when we smile with our eyes too.

Chin(s)

If you want to avoid looking like you have more than one chin there are a few tricks you can use. Avoid having the photo taken from below your chin. Raising the camera above your chin is a great way to eliminate multiple chins. (but not too far, if your legs are in the photo they will look shorter) Try to stretch your neck and then lower your chin and stick it out a little. Now try pressing your tongue against the back of your top teeth. This feels pretty unnatural at first but it does actually work.

Body Check

Practice good posture by imagining your whole body lifting up from the top of your head;  shoulders back, bust out, tummy pulled in and stick your butt out a little. You’ve heard it before, but this makes all the difference in a photo!

Try turning your body about 45 degrees away from the camera so that you have one shoulder closer to the camera than the other. This way you’re body is at an angle and your face is facing the camera.  Put the camera facing arm on your hip, that way your arm isn’t squished against your torso. (Arms that are tight to your body flatten out and look larger)

Positioning your arms a little away from your body and having them slightly bent or placed on a hip (or in one of our pockets) looks more natural than hanging straight at your sides.

She’s Got Legs

With your body at 45 degrees, plant one foot slightly in front of the other, point your toe to the camera and place your weight on your back leg. Another great pose is  to cross your legs at the calf little will have a similar effect of making your hips look narrower and your legs look longer, plus it looks a bit more casual.

It’s always preferable to stand in pictures. But if you happen to be on a chair or a couch when someone wants to take your photo, sit up straight and cross your legs at the ankles. It’ll be much more flattering than not doing anything.

Pose suggestions for a perfect photo

That’s it! Easy and totally natural right? lol

These are all great tips but chances are you won’t put them all into use every time someone pulls out a camera. In this day and age when everyone has a camera on their phone my best tip is…take lots of pictures, lots and lots.

The Pucker Up Party Recap!

Happy Valentine’s Day! We thought today would be a perfect day to post a recap for the fun little party we held at the beginning of this month! So Pucker Up and have a peek at how Cherry Velvet celebrates a shindig!

The day of the party it looked like we were fixin’ for a storm but we decided to go on with the show, anyway! How could we let all our careful baking & decorating go to waste? We’re cray, that way.

That being said, we were sad to hear so many were unable to make it out in such inclement weather. Someone even ended in a ditch on the way here! Even some of our guests who made it in didn’t escape unscathed; Our dear friend, Danielle, got soaked by a rude car. Thankfully, we had a showroom of dresses for her to wear. 😉

Despite the record-breaking cold weather, we kept it hot in our studio with a Love-themed Munch ‘n Mingle night featuring a photoshoot for anyone who showed up in a Cherry Velvet dress! We were a little worried that the epic snow storm we were in the midst of would put the kibosh on our fun night, but thankfully, one by one, 5 years worth of Cherry Velvet dresses came sashaying through the snow and in front of our photographer.

From live music that had everyone bumpin’, to impromptu complementary hair curlin’ & victory rollin’, there were tons of antics and adorable pics.

We thank all the guests who braved the blizzard and we’re so excited to share these photos with you! If you want to see more photoshoot shots+, head over to our Facebook Page!

We had so many charming and delightful ladies come in, we don’t want to exclude anyone! But we simply couldn’t get over how much energy party girls, Cynara & Dina, are! East Van beauties, through and through.

We even had esteemed Editor-In-Chief, Shannon Svingen-Jones, of FabUplus Magazine come out for a snap or 2. Also a Vancouver girl, we’re so proud of how far FabUplus Magazine has come in such a short time and it’s such a thrill to see Shannon’s hard work being recognized as an amazing new magazine, by the likes of publications like Elle & People Magazine.

What’s a party without music? We are so blessed to know so many talent artists to collaborate with and were lucky enough to have Wichita Trip, fronted by Diane’s good friend & long time Cherry Velvet girl, Barb Wilkins. Any shoppers from Vancouver will recognize her from Bodacious, a lovely shop which used to be on Main Street and was one of the forerunners of the Plus Size community in Vancouver. Wichita Trip provided some peachy keen Rockabilly tunes backed by Barb’s husband, Rupert, with Back up vocals & keyboards by Mike Van Eyes from The Revel Room’s famous Duelling Pianos Night.

The entire night went off without a hitch and a great time was had by all. Again, we wish to thank all our amazing guests for coming out. It is always such a great pleasure for us to see our dresses making girls feel stunning at any size. This party was a small gesture of our appreciation for everyone who’s supported us all these years and we’re excited to share so much positivity & pretty dresses for many more years to come!

Wishing everyone a very Happy Valentine’s Day!

How to: Shelly Style

0051_Shelly_Umbrella 275px

We make our dresses for you, so it makes perfect sense to reach out to you when representing our line. Our dresses are as unique as your own personal style and we love to see how our Cherry Velvet girls style their dresses. Enter Shelly! Our regular readers will recognise her as a friend of Diane (our designer), whose fun and whimsical fashion sense makes her a perfect choice for this. A self-proclaimed, “sexy, fat chick” with a penchant for dresses, she’s an avid Cherry Velvet aficionado.

With her approachable smile, she’s a beacon of Retro-inspired style and has remarked that Cherry Velvet are her favourite dresses. We were so pleased to hear that she often gets stopped on the sidewalk when she’s wearing them!

On top of that, we knew Shelly has amassed an envy-inducing collection of darling shoes (including our favourite shoe brand, John Fluevog) –

and jewelry…

1131_Jewellery 550px

So we asked her to choose a few dresses to style along with her pretty things, as well as model for us – to show off her unique, CV-style. As always, we were delighted by Shelly’s cheerful and confident personality. She tells it like it is and exemplifies the body positive, self-assured attitude that pairs perfectly with our dresses.

We knew the Olivia Dress was the perfect choice for her when we heard her explaining her style philosophy, “fashion is a feeling.” Fittingly, as soon as she donned the delicate Violet Ribbon print, she exclaimed, “it feels like something out of 1950’s Paris!”

0037_Olivia_VioletRibbons_Front 275px

She went on to explain that she enjoys the juxtaposition of “simple with fancy.” She suggests pairing a denim jacket with our dresses or jazzing up a more subdued print with statement shoes.

Our dresses look absolutely fabulous with belts and this thick patent leather one is a lovely complement to our subtle take on the pinstripe. It really makes those fierce heels pop!

She definitely had a blast trying out our brightest Doris Dress yet, The Pixel Party. It was hard to contain her enthusiasm! As soon as she saw it when she was picking her choices, she had to show it to her husband.

“He’s a bit of a geek and this dress just screams ‘Comic Con’! He loves the pixelated print.”

Shelly’s colourful personality definitely comes out in this trendy, statement dress. We’re not surprised she chose it, considering her other favourite dresses are our Brooke Dress in Vanilla Stardust (now sold out) & Danielle Dress in Bazaar.

Miss Lucky Dee ‘Keil’s it Again!

Miss Lucky Dee wearing Cherry Velvet's Ava Dress in Black & White Polka Dots

Once Upon A Time, Cherry Velvet HQ had themselves a double threat in the office…

Long before the team we have right now, Cherry Velvet had themselves a Sales & Marketing Coordinator who would occasionally pinch hit as model, too! By day she went by Danielle Keil, but in front of the camera, she’s Miss Lucky Dee!

Born & raised in Hope, BC, Danielle moved to Vancouver to be the first in her father’s family to pursue a degree. She ended up earning her Bachelor’s of Arts & Social Sciences, majoring in English Literature & minoring in Women’s Studies. But, of course, you can’t study 24/7! A girl’s got to have a bit of fun, don’t you think? When she wasn’t studying, Danielle was spending her evenings and weekends moonlighting as Miss Lucky Dee.

danielle_instagram

It wasn’t long before she put the “Luck” in her name by winning a modeling contest & contract with one of our favourite retailers, Lucy Clothing. After catching Diane’s eye and building a rapport with Cherry Velvet as a model, we hired her right after her graduation to help out with the office and be a cheerful face & voice to our customers.

Alas, Cherry Velvet couldn’t stay Lucky forever and eventually Danielle moved on to coordinate something else…a family!

Thankfully, we never lost touch with her and when we can, we love to have her in to shoot. At her most recent gig with us, we had a chance to ask her for her thoughts on her time with Cherry Velvet.

This is what she had to share!

What was it like working for Cherry Velvet?

I love working with Cherry Velvet!  Diane and everyone here is so awesome and supportive. I always feel comfortable and confident working with you all.  And of course, Diane’s designs make me feel amazing too!

doris_constellation__space

Working for Diane was a dream come true for me! I had just graduated from Simon Fraser University and was looking for a new job.  When I heard Diane was looking for help in her studio, I immediately emailed in.  I had modeled for Diane once before and she was already someone I looked up to and admired. Diane is very generous and would often give me clothing! (Like I said, it was a dream come true!)

I’ve learned so much from her and continue to take any opportunity to learn more.

With all that said, working for an artist is not without its challenges…Diane can make quite the mess during her creative process. That’s hard for a neat freak like me! lol

What’s your favourite Cherry Velvet dress?

I love the Lana Dress in Monochrome Lace.  I took that one home after my last shoot. It’s comfortable, classy and has pockets! It was a hit at my husband’s Christmas party. Also The Leah Lace Dress in Royal Blue! It’s to die for!

leahlace_bluenude_front_dsc_2497

I could go on.  I can’t pick just one!

What does body positivity mean to you?

For me, “body positive” means loving my body and having confidence regardless of what other people, society and the mainstream media may think.  It’s just being happy with whatever size I am today.  It means appreciating the amazing things my body does, rather than the fact that I don’t have a thigh gap or flat stomach.

***

As usual, Danielle was an absolute pro in front of the camera, always game to try something new! This proved perfect, since we had a cute Video Game-themed idea for one of our newest dresses, The Doris in Pixel Party. Check out our little animated video below here!

Doesn’t she make a darling sprite?

We think she’s super!

The Alternative Side Of Cherry Velvet

Cherry Velvet with Margot Meanie

When Cherry Velvet broke into the industry, we centered our brand around Pinup-style. Our photoshoots had a decidedly classic look: Black winged eyeliner, vintage eyebrows and eye catching victory rolls. However, we soon discovered from comments by our customers that they often felt intimidated by this styling; many of our customers felt that they would not be able to achieve the full look. When we used alternative models with visible tattoos, we received feedback that they distracted from our dresses and it was difficult to imagine the looks without tattoos.

We always take the feedback we receive and use it to grow and change as a brand. At the end of the day, we’re a vintage inspired fashion line; our intention is never to alienate anyone or their style. To that end, in response to the feedback we’ve received over the years, we choose to shoot our catalogue/online shop images and advertising in a way that ensures that we can appeal to the broadest audience we can, while still upholding our own commitment to releasing inspired dresses with original prints and all inclusive sizing.

Having said that, by no means are we confined to being just mainstream.  As an office, we’re as unique, alternative and funky as our dresses. Our rainbow-haired office administrator, Tracy, loves to dress in Disney-inspired outfits every Friday (“Disneybounding”) and our Media Director, Logan, will never stop adding tattoos to his growing sleeves. As expressive as we are at Cherry Velvet HQ, we want our dresses to be a colourful canvas for our customers to be inspired by and accessorize with; to show their flair.

Recently, we had the opportunity to work with a local alternative fashion blogger, Margot Meanie. An East Van girl, through and through,  we were excited to discover her unique style. After a creative brainstorm meeting, we were stoked to set up a photoshoot with her. We couldn’t wait to see what kind of alternative spin she would put on one of our newest and currently most popular dresses, The Lana.

The Alternative Side Of Cherry Velvet - Margo Meanie _1

Many of Margot’s #ootd shots are often taken with a Street Photography feel.  We wanted to echo her alternative style and so chose an eye catching location that would go perfectly. We ended up deciding on an East Van favourite, The Rio Theatre.

We also took some time to chat with Margot a bit and get her thoughts in a mini-interview; we’re excited to share both the photoshoot and her interview below!

Read on!

The Alternative Side Of Cherry Velvet - Margo Meanie _2

1. How did you get into Fashion blogging?

I was wooed by all the pretty photos on Pinterest. I wanted similar shots captured of me in the outfits I’d create, so there’s a tiny bit of vanity at play there. But I also wanted to help plus size babes find resources to find cool clothes that suit their personalities. It can be really difficult as a plus size shopper to find the clothes we like AND for them to fit us. Since brick and mortar locations are drying up for us to physically shop in and try things on, we are forced to turn to online shopping. Being able to share my knowledge about how to start shopping online, where to look and to be able to show how the clothes look on my body, which may be similar to theirs is important to me to help empower stylish babes of all sizes.
The Alternative Side Of Cherry Velvet - Margo Meanie _3
2. Where/who do you get your fashion inspirations from?

EVERYWHERE! But social media is probably my number 1 influence, mostly because it’s so vast. I follow fashion bloggers of all sizes, I have over 1000 instagram accounts I follow { though they’re not all fashion, there is a lot of art, tattoos and drag queens in there }, Pinterest is an amazing resource too, because it gives you the ability to create mood boards so effortlessly and if you find an item you love, there is often a direct link to that item!
Social media has just opened up a world of possibility. It also helps you craft the media you consume, instead of just being force fed the standard unattainable, “aspirational” beauty ideal, you get to craft your own beauty standard and it helps you broaden your scope of beauty and acceptance. I’d also say searching hashtags on platforms like instagram or tumblr is really great as well, some of my favourite hashtags are: #alternativecurves, #goldenconfidence, #psootd and #whatfatgirlsactuallywear

3. What drew you to reach out to Cherry Velvet?

My friend gave me a heads up about a model call and I was really excited to find an inclusive brand from my own hometown! Vancouver, as much as I adore it, can be downright difficult to navigate as a plus size shopper, we have about 6 options to go shopping in and try actually try things on, so I really want to celebrate and herald local and Canadian brands serving the plus size community with beautifully crafted items.

Models of Cherry Velvet: Kaleigh Almond

Continuing our “Models of Cherry Velvet” series, our next model has only been shooting with us since the summer of 2015…

Galbraith Mansion, July 2015.

With her golden hair and piercing blue eyes, Kaleigh Almond exemplifies the sweet as cherry pie look, yet has the unique ability to smoulder like the most sultry of femme fatales. A seasoned model, she has been working in the industry since 2012, while she studies at UBC. How was she discovered? She won a modelling contest for a local lingerie company!

We had the opportunity recently to ask her a few questions during a photoshoot…read on!

How did you get this Cherry-sweet gig?

I started modelling for a local company in Langley BC. At a Fundraiser Fashion Show for a fellow model, Diane Kennedy saw me and contacted me for modelling some time after. Since our very first shoot at a heritage home in New Westminster, I have had the pleasure of working with Cherry Velvet in their catalogue and promotional shoots!

What does #stunningatanysize mean to you?

Since I’m in the fashion industry, the positive body movement over the past few years has held a particular interest to me. Growing up, I always considered myself, “average”; I thought I was mundane and girl-next-door as one could imagine! Even today, I still think I’m an average height, size, shoe, shape; I even study arts and have blonde hair! How “average” can you get! But this movement towards self-accepting and thinking that every person is beautiful in their own unique and wonderful way has really had a positive effect on my work. I’m so pleased that despite my self-deprecation, I’m able to find modelling work and the positive messages are applicable in my everyday life.

StunningAtAnySize_LargeGroup

#stunningatanysize means that I’m beautiful -the way I’m right now; not once I’ve achieved the goals I have set for myself to lose weight or become fitter- but right now I’m beautiful. And this has been a struggle, especially in the last six months, to remember this and to work on self-acceptance. #stunningatanysize does not mean I’m perfect, but it means that I’m (trying) to accept me for me as I’m today. A lot of people find it surprising that I struggle with self-acceptance and confidence, but being a model doesn’t mean I’m perfect or that I’m totally confident, it means that I’m trying to see myself as a beautiful person and that I’m continuously fighting to be proud of myself.

How do you get ready for a photoshoot? What are your 3 favourite beauty products?

I love photo shoots more than almost anything in the world, but getting ready for them requires a lot more time than I had originally thought!

For starters, being perfectly manicured for shoots means I have to shave the day off – which often means waking up crazy early before a shoot. In order to look refreshed (like I got those 8 hours of sleep I had planned on!), I use A-Derma Emollient Foaming Gel to wash my face. My skin is can get grumpy and with all the makeup products I have to put on at shoots—I often break out. I love this product because it minimises breakouts and doesn’t suck all the moisture out my skin. My skin is also very reactive, but so far this product has had no negative effects on it!

My second secret is what I put on the rest of my skin to make it look soft for the photos. Again my skin is very reactive, so I even though I’ve tried all the fun products from places like Bath & Body Works, The Body Shop etc. and liked them, I still wasn’t getting the results I wanted. So I went back to basics. Every morning and night, I put aloe vera on my skin! Even though it doesn’t smell as lovely as the other options, it works fabulously!

But my biggest secret, the one that took me the longest to figure out, is how models always had such beautiful nails! Pro tip: they don’t get manicures every day, they use gel nude nail polish! I personally love Sally Hanson. It’s affordable and it dries reasonably quickly, which is something I value when I’m running from University to shoots and back.

What is your favourite Cherry Velvet dress & why?

My favourite dress right now is The Brigitte!

brigitte_storybook_fb
The Brigitte in Storybook

This dress is perfect for warmer weather. It’s a touch shorter than some of the others and I always LOVE the fun prints it comes in! Pink Eden is my personal favourite!

brigitte_pinkeden_front

Who inspires your creativity?

I grew up in a wonderful home with wonderful, caring and intelligent parents. But they’re also kinda crazy (in the best way possible!). My mother is one of the most creative people I have ever met. She can take anything, a broken teacup, for example, put it in our garden and plant wonderful bright flowers around it, making it look like she got the idea right off Pinterest. My mom loves colour; everything in her world is colourful! Every wall in her room is a different colour. She dresses in fun, fashionable colours every chance she gets and, most prominently, her personality shines through everything bad in the world. My mom has always supported my creativity by putting me in classes for sculpture, painting, pastels, dance, theater, film acting etc. Her creativity is inspiring and I love her more and more every day. <3

Thank you so much for taking the time to chat with us, Kaleigh!

Meet “The Tree”! (Cherry Velvet Staff Bios)

As we get ready to switch over to a new “leaf” (Fall’s coming & we’re releasing our Autumn Collection soon!), we thought it would be a great opportunity to update our “About” section and include a few words about each person that makes up our Cherry Velvet Team. Read on and learn more about Team CV!

Without further ado…

Logan Rudum

CherryVelvet_Staff_Logan

Logan has been with us since 2013! His first and foremost role here is Media Director, where he spends his days beautifying our website, thinking up fun ideas for photoshoots (then shooting them!) and managing our social media channels. He loves having the opportunity to spread positivity through Cherry Velvet.

And thankfully for us ladies in the office, his active lifestyle as an obstacle race/marathon addict also has its benefits; he’s the only one strong enough to deftly change the water cooler jugs and plotter paper!

Tatyana Bardas

CherryVelvet_Staff_Tatyana

Our lovely patternmaker, Tatyana, hails from Lviv, a city in Western Ukraine. After she finished her degree in Fashion Design, she moved to Canada and has been working with us for just over a year! She’s the talent behind the plotter so to speak, as she works closely with our designer, Diane, to create the beautiful patterns our dresses are cut from.

But her talent doesn’t end there, from pattern to paper, she also styles our Cherry Velvet paper dolls from time to time! You might recognize her name, as we have a lovely dress named after her. Here in the office, Tatyana holds the title of “coolest place to get married” – She was wed in a castle!

Tracy Po

CherryVelvet_Staff_Tracy

Despite her size, Tracy comes in like a wrecking ball of sunshine. Always whistling while she works, she’s Cherry Velvet’s Jill of All Trades. As someone with a passion for customer service, she’s the smiling face who often fields our private showroom appointments, the cheery voice who responds to customer inquiries and is photography assistant to Logan during photoshoots. She also loves doing the blogging! (holla!)

When she’s not assisting Team CV, she’s delighting them with her Disney-themed outfits and brightly coloured hair.

Dawn Chavda

DAWN SKULLS_REVISED

Our newest member to the team, Dawn is our diligent Shipper/Receiver who also responds to order/exchange related inquiries and makes sure our dresses get safely to their happy new owners. Having previously spent most of her professional life shipping auto parts, Dawn is so pleased to be surrounded by so many gorgeous dresses all the time and NOT auto parts. She also enjoys being our model once in awhile!

An English major and self proclaimed “geek”, one of her favourite things about working here is chatting with all our adorable customers. Just don’t spell her name, “Don”!

That’s the team! We hope you enjoyed putting some faces on the names you might see once in awhile.

Size Wise!

Vanessa is wearing Sally in Flamingo

Anyone familiar with Cherry Velvet Dresses knows how important it is that our dresses are accessible to everyone. When we first started, we had the intention of providing gorgeous dress options for Plus Sized women. As we did research on our target audience we discovered that, unsurprisingly, it’s common for women to shop in groups (of all sizes). Many would find themselves separated from their friends when shopping, as Regular & Plus Sizes often occupied completely separate areas, if not completely separate stores!

Size_0X_SizesAvailable
Find your Cherry Velvet size on our Fit Guide

We weren’t down with that.

So we decided shortly after our launch, that we would design our dresses and ensure they would properly fit a range of sizes, from XS-3X. In addition, we endeavour to include 4X in selected styles and make sure to include a size not very common to many retail stores, 0X.

Our newest dress, Sally, in 5 fresh looks! Available in sizes XS-3X.

We introduced Size 0X to provide a bridge between our regular and plus sizes. Traditionally non-stretch sizing increments must be smaller than for stretch to fit the maximum number of people properly. Many of our dresses are made from (non stretch) 100% cotton,  and subsequently, in order to properly lead into true plus sizing, we had to add an extra size.

Sally_CoralBorder_FrontBack_IG
Jennifer is wearing Sally in Coral Border

It is important to note that, ideally, the grading (sizing to other sizes) of a pattern does not exceed more than 3 sizes in either direction. Special attention must be given to exactly how much the pattern changes (and where) between each size. It is not uncommon to find many “Plus sized” options ill fitting, because the pattern grading was simply magnified and no other fine tuning done.

Despite being double the work, during our design process we make two patterns for every style of dress that we design. One pattern that fits regular sizes and another that fits plus sizes. Each different pattern is then fitted on a real person in each size range. This way, we ensure that not only are we providing every single size we can, but they are also truly graded properly.

That being said, Cherry Velvet’s fit is unique to many other fashion brands, in that our overall fit caters to the curvier woman. Our styles have also have a higher waist, which flatters many body types and heights. We also endeavor to design straps/necklines that will always accommodate a real bra (none of this silly “strapless” business!). That being said, we know not all plus size women have ample chests. Should this be the case, no worries! Our designs are forgiving enough that if you choose a style with a full skirt and go down a size, the bodice should fit like a dream. This works wonderfully for those that have a “Pear” shape!

We hope that all this info illustrates how much detail goes into properly sizing our dresses. Whether you’re an XS or a true plus size, it’s our goal to make sure you feel #stunningatanysize.
